Picking Reliable Poster Hangers
Picking between various poster hangers may not seem like a very big deal at all. They are all fairly cheap and they tend to look very similar as well. The thing is, though, that picking out a reliable poster hanger is an extremely important process that you need to consider very closely before making a purchase. First of all, durability is a huge issue. If you are going to be drilling into the wall, you want to make sure that it holds well and that it won’t tear the surface. If it is going to be surface only and held up by adhesive, you need to assure that it can hold the weight that you will require it to – otherwise you might come home to find that your poster frame has fallen down and there is broken glass everywhere. This can be easily avoided by reading the packaging and making sure that it is rated for several pounds of weight.
If you are going to drill into the wall or make any sort of puncture, you will most likely find that you will be buying an aluminum poster hanger. These are better suited for digging in and entrenching themselves into the wall more securely. The thing you have to look out for is the way that they hook in on the other side of the drywall. Also, the size is a big issue. If it’s too small, it may not hold well, or it may not be enough area to sufficiently hold up your poster and its frame. If it is too big, then you will learn the hard way that it leaves bad marks whenever you decide to remove it.
If you are living in a rental home, a dorm, or an apartment, you’ll probably quickly discover that you are not allowed to make punctures into the wall. Using plastic poster hangers is a great way to still be allowed to decorate your dorm room without violating residential policies or getting charged fees by your apartment owner or landlord. With a plastic poster hanger, though, you have to be even more careful about the weight limits as things are much more prone to falling if they are too heavy.
Poster hangers are a great invention. They might seem a bit confusing because they do not work like most conventional methods of hanging items on the wall, but they actually work quite well and are much more secure than using thumb tacks, in most cases.
