What to Look for When Choosing Hangers

When choosing hangers you first need to determine what your needs are. Take a look in your closet and check how many skirts, dresses, pants and shirts you have hung up. Most people can get by with two types of hangers those being for shirts and for pants or skirts. Think about the following hanger features before buying a set of hangers.

The Size of your Closet vs. the Size of your Hangers

If you have a small closet like many people, the size of your hangers can be a real problem. Thick hangers will take up a good portion of your closet and leave less space for your clothes. If you are in this situation, space saving hangers is the way to go. Huggable Hangers are an example of a space saving hanger. With a quality hanger, you won’t have to worry about your clothes becoming misshaped or wrinkled.

Matching Hangers

Matching hangers are wonderful. They don’t just make your closet look nice; they have some functionality as well. Your closet will appear more organized and structured. When your hangers don’t match, your eye get diverted to the different hangers and divert you from the task at hand which is choosing an article of clothing to wear. Matching hangers also sit better in your closet next to each other. Hangers of different shapes and sizes tend to get tangled together and otherwise don’t use the space available efficiently.

Multi-Purpose Hangers

Try and find a hanger that will suit as many of the clothes you have as possible. All your hangers should have small hooks to hang items with think straps or articles of clothing with sewn in ribbons to be hung up. Hangers covered with a gripping type of fabric will prevent slippery types of clothing from falling off onto the floor.

How Many Hangers to Buy

Even if you buy the smallest slim line hangers you can find, don’t put more in your closet then your closet can handle. The best scenario is to leave a quarter inch between your hangers. This will make removing and hanging up your clothes much easier.
